The Asylum Capacity Support Group Secretariat is organizing the second technical meeting of the Asylum Capacity Support Group Dialogue Platform on “Unlocking efficiency: The power of strong asylum case management systems”.

In the face of continued high numbers of asylum applications globally, gaining efficiency, while maintain quality, is of crucial importance. Key stumbling blocks to efficiency gains in many asylum systems are outdated case management systems or systems that are otherwise not fit for purpose. The event will demonstrate the role and impact of well-designed case management systems in enhancing the effectiveness of asylum processing and provide good practice examples from States. It will focus on important functionalities of strong case management systems; showcase the experiences of national asylum authorities in adopting and adjusting case management systems to be more effective; and highlight challenges, lessons learned and key considerations for asylum authorities that may be making improvements to their systems.

The meeting will be co-moderated by Ms. Luana Medeiros, Director, Department of Immigration, Ministry of Justice and Public Security, Brazil together with Ms. Elise Currie-Roberts, Chief of the Asylum Systems and Determination Section of UNHCR. The meeting will include presentations by Ms. Cinthia Perez Trejo, General Director, Mexican Commission for Refugee Assistance (COMAR), Ms. Jeanette Kjärsgård, Asylum process specialist, Digitalisation and Development Department, Swedish Migration Agency, Sweden, Ms. Claudia Liliana Florez Ocampo, Minister Counsellor of the Refugee Status Determination Working Group of the Vice Ministry of Multilateral Affairs, Colombia and Ms. Kritika Shrivastava, Refugee Status Determination Officer, UNHCR.
