South Africa’s Intent to resolve the backlog in refugee status determination and promote durable solutions for deserving asylum seekers and refugees; The pledge relates to the Refugee Status Determination Backlog Elimination Project (Backlog Project) and the Pledge is to indicate the Government of South Africa’s intention to eliminate the Backlog in the appeal processes in South Africa and to improve its asylum seeker management processes.  The Pledge also relates to the intention to look at durable solutions for deserving refugees and asylum seekers in the backlog.
